I you like fun, exercise, fresh air, beautiful scenery, map-reading, socializing, messing around with the laws of physics, then Amateur Radio Direction Finding (or Radio Orienteering) is the right activity for you.
ARDF (often called "fox-hunting") is a sport of skill in
finding hidden objects. It’s similar to Geo Caching, but instead of
using a GPS we use radio receivers and orienteering skills, and on
foot, to find the location of hidden radio transmitters. It’s a
great way to learn how to navigate in the woods with a map and
compass and a fine way to spend a sunny day exploring your parks and
forests.
Everyone is welcome to participate in ARDF events. You don’t need to
have any radio experience, or even your Amateur Radio License in
order to
hunt!
Skills learned and master while ARDF-ing can be used in: Search and rescue operations, tracking jamming and malicious interferences and radio noises, animal tracking, navigation, etc.
Every ARDF event brings a new challange and develops new skills.
You can do it alone, with your friends or family. You can
participate in ARDF competitions and win medals, from local
competitions to world championships.
We are proud to lounch our Canadian ARDF website! Home of ARDF for all Canadians.
